Singye Happy Green Youth farm is a 4.5 acres integrated piggery and fishery farm that is inter-cropped with banana, papaya and other minor local fruits and vegetables established in 2012. It was initially supported by Dzongkhag livestock sector; it is currently run by 5 local youth organized themselves as a social enterprise using cooperative concept. There are 10 large fish ponds with a capacity of 100,000 fishes designed with 7 pig sheds housing over 100 pigs. The farm is at the 2nd phase at which the economic generating activity will begin from 2018. It is located 40-30 minutes drive from Helay Check post in Sarbhang.
Due to its proximity of location in the community the farm serves as centre for young people in the locality (both girls and students/drop outs). It has become event place hosting lot of informal gathering such as advocacy for educated farmer concept, entrepreneurial talks, and sensitization on volunteerism and community services.
We are a team of young enthusiastic educated farmers trying to change the attitude of the educated youth towards farming by improving the way agriculture and farming is approached, practiced and perceived.
